Plant height measurement: How we measure the height of our houseplants from pot to top

At Houseplant.co.uk, we want to ensure that you choose the perfect plant for your space. Here's how we measure our plants:

Plant Height:

Measured from the base of the nursery pot to the top of the plant, including the full length of the stem and foliage.

Pot Size:

Refers to the total width across the top of the pot.

Choosing the Right Size

To find the perfect fit, compare the diameter of your plant's grow pot to the opening diameter of your chosen decorative pot. Ensure the decorative pot is at least 1-3cm larger in diameter than the grow pot for easy insertion and removal.

Important Notes

  • Plant sizes are approximate and include the depth of the plant pot and roots, not just the height from the top of the soil.
  • If a specific plant size is not available, we may provide a larger plant at no additional cost to you.

It is completely normal for mature specimens to have split leaves, they do this to allow light to access the lower portion of the plant!

Caring for your fresh new Bird of Paradise is an incredibly rewarding process! Simply place yours in a cosy, warm spot with plenty of bright indirect sunlight, and water once the top few inches of soil have dried. They love humidity so place yours in a kitchen/bathroom, mist regularly or pop it on top of a pebble tray to replicate its tropical origins & ensure it is as happy as possible. When repotting, use well draining soil & feed once per month over Spring/Summer for a development boost.

    Stunning, healthy plants

    The plants arrived in stunning condition, care has been taken with the packing, unfortunately the delivery service not so much, two (2) of the posts were smashed, luckily only plastic pottings so easily replaced, just an extra job.
