At Houseplant.co.uk, we want to ensure that you choose the perfect plant for your space. Here's how we measure our plants:
Plant Height:
Measured from the base of the nursery pot to the top of the plant, including the full length of the stem and foliage.
Pot Size:
Refers to the total width across the top of the pot.
Choosing the Right Size
To find the perfect fit, compare the diameter of your plant's grow pot to the opening diameter of your chosen decorative pot. Ensure the decorative pot is at least 1-3cm larger in diameter than the grow pot for easy insertion and removal.
Important Notes
- Plant sizes are approximate and include the depth of the plant pot and roots, not just the height from the top of the soil.
- If a specific plant size is not available, we may provide a larger plant at no additional cost to you.

The Prayer Plant Lemon Lime, officially known as Maranta Leuconeura 'Marisela,' captivates with its striking lime-green leaves adorned with darker green markings. Its leaves fold upwards during the evening, resembling a posture of prayer, which is how it got its common name. This unique feature, along with its vivid foliage, adds an interactive and colourful touch to any indoor space.
What Is the History of the Prayer Plant Lemon Lime?
The Prayer Plant family, Maranta, is native to tropical regions of Brazil and was named after Bartolomeo Maranta, a 16th-century Italian botanist. The Lemon Lime variant is a cultivar that was developed to produce brighter, more striking foliage. It has gained significant attention in recent years for its vivid leaves and unique nyctinastic movements (leaf folding).
Where Does the Prayer Plant Lemon Lime Originate?
The original Maranta species, from which the Prayer Plant Lemon Lime cultivar was developed, is indigenous to the Brazilian rainforest. The tropical conditions there provide a clue to the plant's preferred environment: warm, humid, and shielded from direct sunlight.

I placed two large orders for speciality house plant. They were delivered quickly with good packaging and the plants are excellent quality and all are thriving. However, I have one problem with a pot that was shattered but the plant was ok. I contacted houseplant and got her replies by return, they agreed to send a replacement plant and pot with better packaging which arrived with no problems. I also got to keep the original plan. Their customer service was very easy to deal with, courteous and very helpful. I would highly recommend them.
