Bunny Ears Cactus
Couldn't load pickup availability
Native to Northern Mexico, this iconic Bunny Ears Cactus is widely known for its cute, captivating silhouette reminiscent of a rabbit's oval-shaped ears! It's a special low maintenance succulent so makes for a perfect companion when brightening up those less-travelled areas. It's also popular as a thoughtful gift to loved ones looking to grow their green thumb!
Please note, not all Bunnies have two ears! Some have one big ear whilst others may have three or four! You may also experience the odd dropped ear after transit, but rest assured, these can simply be replanted back into the soil to continue growing cheerfully. Decorative pots sold separately, handle with care on arrival as some spines may have come loose in transit.

Houseplant Size Guide
At Houseplant.co.uk, we want to ensure that you choose the perfect plant for your space. Here's how we measure our plants:
Plant Height:
Measured from the base of the nursery pot to the top of the plant, including the full length of the stem and foliage.
Pot Size:
Refers to the total width across the top of the pot.
Choosing the Right Size
To find the perfect fit, compare the diameter of your plant's grow pot to the opening diameter of your chosen decorative pot. Ensure the decorative pot is at least 1-3cm larger in diameter than the grow pot for easy insertion and removal.
Important Notes
- Plant sizes are approximate and include the depth of the plant pot and roots, not just the height from the top of the soil.
- If a specific plant size is not available, we may provide a larger plant at no additional cost to you.
- All of our plants, unless otherwise stated are supplied in a nursery pot with the exception of air plants or lucky bamboo or otherwise listed in the product description.

Learn More About Bunny Ears Cactus
Collapsible content
What is the Bunny Ears Cactus Known For?
The Bunny Ears Cactus is most renowned for its distinctive pad-like stems that resemble rabbit ears, which are dotted with clusters of tiny spines called glochids. This cactus is favoured for its unique shape, easy care, and as a striking conversation piece in a succulent collection.
What Is the History of the Bunny Ears Cactus?
Native to northern Mexico and desert regions stretching into Arizona, the Bunny Ears Cactus, or Opuntia Microdasys Albata, has a rich background in native cultures. Traditionally, various parts of the cactus have been utilized, from creating cactus pads for food to using the glochids for their tiny, hair-like thorns in traditional medicine.
Where Does the Bunny Ears Cactus Originate?
The Bunny Ears Cactus is indigenous to the deserts of Mexico and the southwestern United States. Adapted to arid climates, its origin in these hot, dry regions has equipped it with the ability to store water and thrive in environments with minimal rainfall.
Are Bunny Ears Cactus Toxic to Pets?
No, the Bunny Ears Cactus is not entirely safe for pets. While not toxic, its tiny glochids can easily detach and become lodged in the skin, causing irritation and discomfort. It’s best to keep this plant out of reach of curious pets to prevent any accidental injuries.

Bunny Ears Cactus ordered with other itemsGood plants. Sadly some damaged during delivery and sale could be better value for cash.
Plants arrived in good time and most in good condition. Sadly the bunny ears cactus I bought seemed to be damaged during delivery which is a shame and some of the more expensive plants were slightly smaller that expected. Other than that the other plants were in good health and the care instructions are helpful, I think the plants are a bit pricy for what they are given I mostly ordered on the sale section.

I’m very happy with the quality of the plants I received. The only issue I had was with the delivery. The delivery driver did not leave the parcel in the porch and there was no option to leave in a safe place for the redelivery. There was no need for it to be signed for only! This meant added stress to the plants to potentially be in darkness for too long!
